Mouse mighty at Annie Awards

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - Thanks to ``Mulan,'' Walt Disney Studios on Friday dominated the Intl. Animated Film Society's 26th annual Annie Awards, carrying home 10 awards from 30 film and television categories.

``Mulan'' accounted for all of Disney's wins, taking home the top prize for animated feature, character animation, effects, production design, storyboards, writing, music, direction and producing credits.

Actress Ming-Na won for her voice-over work on the picture, while Hank Azaria won as the voice of Bartok in Fox's ``Anastasia.''

Warner Bros. Television Animation netted five awards, mainly for ``Steven Spielberg Presents Pinky & the Brain'' and ``The New Batman/Superman Adventures,'' which won for animated daytime TV program.

WB's ``Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero'' nabbed animated home video honors, while Pixar Animation Studios' ``Geri's Game'' won for animated short subject.

``The Simpsons,'' from 20th Century Fox Television and Gracie Films, led three categories, including animated primetime or latenight show.

LucasArts picked up animated interactive production for its ``The Curse of Monkey Island'' computer game.

``Titanic'' brought home yet another award for Digital Domain, for technical achievement in animation.

Spumco's ``Flares/Big Pockets'' for Old Navy took home the nod for best commercial.

The awards presentations, held at the Alex Theater in Glendale and hosted by Jay Thomas, is scheduled to air in December on Fox Family Channel.
